About Us
Here at Flat Rock Farm, we’re proud to have two exceptional coaches, Emma and Brandan, who bring a wealth of experience, dedication, and passion to our program. Both are fully certified through Ontario Equestrian and have spent many years competing successfully in the hunter/jumper discipline at various levels across Ontario.
Emma and Brandan share a coaching philosophy that focuses on developing confident, well-rounded riders through a strong foundation of horsemanship, technique, and understanding. They believe that every rider has the potential to become a great equestrian and work hard to bring out the best in each of their students—both in and out of the ring.
Their lessons emphasize trust, patience, and connection between horse and rider, ensuring that students not only progress in skill but also develop a lifelong love and respect for the sport.
Brandan brings extensive experience in the hunter/jumper field, having competed at multiple levels across Ontario and worked with a variety of horses and riders. His calm, consistent approach allows students to develop confidence and refine their technique in a positive and motivating environment.
Brandan believes in tailoring each lesson to the individual horse and rider, ensuring that both progress as a team. His dedication to proper flatwork, balance, and communication creates riders who are effective, thoughtful, and connected to their horses both on the ground and in the show ring.
With years of experience in the hunter/jumper circuit, Emma has been passionate about horses from a young age, growing up right here on Flat Rock Farm. She began teaching riding lessons as a teenager and quickly discovered her love for coaching and helping riders grow in both skill and confidence. This allowed her to pursue a career in education as well.
Emma focuses on building strong foundations in horsemanship and riding technique while ensuring that every student feels supported and capable. Her lessons are known for being encouraging, structured, and fun — helping riders of all levels reach their goals while developing a true partnership with their horses.
Flat Rock Farm is truly a family-run operation, and we take great pride in the work that goes into caring for our horses and maintaining the farm each day. From feeding and turnout to maintenance and daily chores, our family works together to ensure the barn runs smoothly and the horses receive the best possible care.
Debbie is a retired nurse whose compassion and attention to detail shine through in every aspect of barn life. She keeps everything organized and running efficiently — and always makes sure the horses (and people!) are well looked after.
Clayton has been a lifelong farmer with a strong work ethic. Whether he’s fixing fences, moving hay, or tending to the pastures, Clayton is the backbone of the farm’s day-to-day operations.
Emma grew up on the farm and now helps manage the horse side of the operation alongside teaching lessons. From chores to coaching, she brings energy, dedication, and a lifelong love of horses to everything she does.
At Flat Rock Farm, caring for animals isn’t just a job — it’s a family tradition built on teamwork, passion, and pride in the work we do every day.
